Monopoly but a bit more awesome!!

Its 11 am on a Saturday morning and that means that the pubs are open. Im not usually one to start drinking this early (I like the midday rule) but with 22 streets and 4 train stations to visit you need an start early.

This is the monopoly pub crawl, A day packed with pubs ,drinks and drunken fun around one of the finest city's in the world London.

There are many different ways of completing this challenge you can try it in the order of the board although the logistics for this are terrible and you end up zig zagging backwards and forwards all over the place. Then there is the route designed by http://www.monopolypubcrawl.org.uk.

The Guide they have drawn up takes away a lot of the hard work by telling you how to get to each pub and even telling you which bus or tube train you need to get. They even give you a time frame for each pub so you can stay on track and actually finish. Not an easy task, I have attempted it 5 times and only ever made the final pub on 3 occassions.

Setting foot in the first pub is always a great experience if you get there at 11am the pub will be filled with people all drinking 1/2 pints. Ten minutes later the bar will be empty as everyone leaves jumps on the bus out the front  heads across tower bridge and into the second pub. The day continues like this and before you know it you will be drinking and laughing with random strangers who will become great mates as the day goes on.

If you can make it to the final pub this is where the real party is. As each of the different groups arrive the pub erupts in cheers and congratulations for there inebriated friends. A strange experience walking into a pub you dont know only for half of the pub to cheer. It gives you a great sense of achievement and if you made it this far you deserve it.

This is a must for anyone visiting the capital if your up to the challenge that is!

Knowing that the quest ahead is going to be a long difficult journey i shall be using these six weeks to prepare myself for what lies ahead.

The Goals

  • Quit Smoking
  • Quit Drinking
  • Run HITT training 3 times a week
  • Start learning French

Quit Smoking

My first goal is to bin the horrible daily habit I have of smoking. I know it ruins my health but its also a massive drain on money and more money means more amazing adventures.

Quit Drinking

ok i hit the booze a bit hard over Christmas so have decided that i need to give the drink a rest for a few weeks. This will never be permanent but for these 6 weeks no alcohol shall pass my lips.

Run HITT training 3x a week

Although i love going to the gym i don't spend enough time working on cardio. so for the six weeks i shall be following this HITT training program 3 times a week.
  • Sprint 100m
  • Return at own pace
  • Repeat 5 times

Start Learning French

At the end month i am starting my adventure by moving to France for 9 months. This will give me lots of chances to complete items on my list. The Problem i know abut 3 words of French so its time to start learning.

Remember those games you loved playing as a kid  Mario ,
Donkey Kong and Zelda. Well its possible to play these
and many more on your android mobile or tablet.

There are many emulators (Programs that mimic old consoles) on android, but for super Nintendo games we recommend Snesoid

So follow the guide below and we will have you jumping on Goombas in no time.

Note: Get awesome does not condone piracy, and offers this information for entertainment purposes only. Get awesome also takes no responsibility if you follow this guide and manage to break phone in the process.

Step 1.

Snesoid is not available on the Google play store, so in order to download and install first you must tell your phone to allow apps.not on the marketplace.

To do this go to ‘settings’  then ‘applications’ and then tick ‘unknown sources’

Step 2

Download Snesoid.
Unzip and transfer to your phone. The easiest way to do this is to email the file to yourself then download it on you’re android device.

Once downloaded click download complete to install.

Step 3

The emulator should load up when you tap on its icon. Now we need to get some games to play.

These are called roms and snesoid uses the file extension .smc although it can play files in the zip format. You can find these files by using a search engine such as Google . For legal reasons we cannot tell you where to find them.

You can Either download these files directly to your phone or download them to your pc and transfer them onto the phone via cable  or email.

Step 4

If you have followed this guide correctly then you should be already to play. Simpy open snesoid  and navigate to the folder of your stored game.

By default, the screen will be covered with virtual buttons. If you're using a device with physical buttons, hit the menu key, choose 'Settings', and choose 'Input settings'. From here, uncheck the virtual keypad settings, and then go into 'Key mappings'.

Now, tap on each button name (Left, X, Start, etc.) and press the physical button you'd like to assign it to. When you're all done, you will be able to play with your Xperia Play controls, or a physical keyboard.
